Ceramic Plaited Sleeving
- HIGH TEMRPERATUE INSULATION
- SUITABLE FOR UP TO 1260°C
- EXCELLENT PROTECTION FOR CABLES AND PIPING
Description
CRM can supply sleeving, braided from ceramic fibre yarns, reinforced with either inconel or glass filament. The yarns are produced on traditional textile machinery by carding high purity ceramic fibre with a percentage of cellulose fibre to assist in the processing. The yarns are then spun and combined with the relevant reinforcing media to improve the tensile strength at extended temperatures.
The organic content will burn off at temperatures above 200°C without affecting the properties of the ceramic fibre, however adequate ventilation should be provided during this initial firing. Where tensile strength is important the temperature limitations of the reinforcing media should be considered.
Ceramic fibres are suitable for use at temperatures up to 1260°C dependent on application. They are resistant to most chemicals except phosphoric acid, hydrofluoric acid and strong alkalis. They are non-combustible, have low thermal conductivity and are resistant to thermal shock.
Applications
Ceramic plaited sleeving is an excellent solution for cable and pipe protection.
