Carbon, Kevlar® & Hybrid Woven Products
Resintex offer a range of Carbon, Kevlar® and Hybrid woven products for specialist reinforcement applications.
Carbon fibres are the stiffest and strongest reinforcing fibres for polymer composites, and are the second most common reinforcing fibre after glass.
Carbon has low density and a negative coefficient of longitudinal thermal expansion.
They are generally used together with epoxy resin, where high strength and stiffness are required, i.e. race cars, automotive and space applications, sport equipment and wind turbine blade construction.
Kevlar® was the first high strength synthetic fibre to gain acceptance in the reinforced plastics industry. Unlike previous synthetic reinforcing fibers, Kevlar® has a considerably higher tensile strength and modulus than fibreglass. Kevlar® is usually used for structures requiring good stiffness, high abrasion resistance, and a requirement to be light weight.
Current applications include light weight boat hulls such as kayaks and canoes, aircraft fuselage panels, pressure vessels, high performance race cars, wind turbine blades and other applications where a high strength to weight ratio is required. May be used with epoxy or vinyl ester resin.
