Thermal Glass Tapes (Webbing)

Cheshire Ribbon thermal glass tapes are manufactured from fine uniform textured filaments of high bulk ‘E’ type glass fibre yarns. They differ from other glass fibre tapes in that they are extra soft think and pliable with excellent thermal insulation properties. Cheshire Ribbon fibres are inorganic, sterile and incombustible; they are resistant to oils, solvents and most chemicals and have a low level of leachable chlorides and fluorides. They are suitable for temperatures up to 550˚C and have low thermal conductivity typically 0.05W/mk.

 

Applications

 

E glass webbings are suitable for use as thermal insulation to pipes and vessels to protect personnel and to minimise heat loss. They can be easily fabricated into seals and gaskets. A range of ladder tapes are also available for use as seals on boiler and oven flanges. These tapes can also be used in welding applications for stress relieving and for pre-heat insulation and as oven and furnace fillling and linings. E glass tapes may be applied quite easily by hand wrapping, sewing or with conventional adhesives. They can be supplied adhesive backed, laminated with aluminium foils, coated with graphite to improve abrasion resistance and waterproofing. Weavelock finish can be supplied to reduce dust and help in cutting.

 

Thermal E glass tapes are available in a wide range of widths and thicknesses.
