E glass needlemats are suitable for continuous use at temperatures up to 550°C, however tensile strength continues to reduce noticeably as temperatures increase above 400°C.
Glass braided packing is manufactured from air textured filament E type glass yarns and provide a high volume of entrapped air and consequent good thermal insulation.The basic fibres are lightweight, resilient, incombustible and suitable in applications up to 550˚C. The glass packings are resistant to oils, most chemicals and solvents. It will not rot and is unaffected by bacterial growth. They have medium thermal conductivity and contact with live steam should be avoided.
Applications
Packings are an excellent product suitable as sealings for boiler and furnace doors. Cheshire Ribbon can offer a wide range of dimensions as well as offer round, square and rectangular sections.
